Wilson German Junior 2010 – Players from 18 nations meet in Berlin
150 players from 18 different countries have registered for the International German Youth Championships for Badminton, the Wilson German Junior 2010 tournament in Berlin, which will take place from 11-14 March 2010.
Following the big success of the German Junior 2009, the capital of Germany will be hosting this event for the second time in sequence. Organizer and host of this tournament are again the German Badminton association DBV and SG EBT Berlin.
The tournament 2009 was a great success with regard to the sportive results and the overall organisation. In order to replicate this success the organisers have further improved the event’s frame conditions. For the first time electronic screens for the match ground results, and a designated software will be tested. The players of the participating 18 nations (Korea, Hong-Kong China, Denmark, England, Sweden, Norway, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Iceland, Finland, Austria, Turkey, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Wales, Scotland, France, and Germany) are going to guarantee first-class and exciting matches. With 72 registration men single is the largest discipline. Besides the Korean players Ha and Kang Denmarks young stars Victor Axelsen and Matthias Borg (Sweden) are to be amongst the favourites. Richard Domke (Kaiserslautern) is the German player with the best prospects while in the ladies single (54 registrations) the best German player Fabienne Deprez (Langenfeld) will meet the favorites Hye In Choi (Korea) and Lene Klausen (Denmark). For the men’s double (36 fixtures), ladies double (27 fixtures) and for the mixed doubles there will be an exciting competition between the best Asian doubles and the best doubles from Denmark and England. However, also the German doubles Isabel Herrtrich / Inken Wienefeld (ladies), Richard Domke / Fabian Holzer (men) und Max Schwenger / Isabel Herrtrich (mixed) have good chances to reach the semi-finals. We are especially proud of the participation of a lot of talents that arose from the successful promotion of young regional players of Badminton clubs from Berlin-Brandenburg.
From the host club SG EBT Berlin Anja Buchert, Linda Näfe, Meike Behrens, Dennis Spengler, Francis Karge und Tobias Hafner will participate.
The audience can look forward to a four days first-class badminton event with a unique flair. For enabling the entrance especially to the young audience and school classes, there will be no entrance fee on Thursday 11, and Friday 12 March (both days from 9 am on). Tickets for the final matches on Saturday 13 March (from 12 am on) and Sunday 14 March (from 10 am on) can be booked online or to be purchased at the Racketprofis Store Berlin.
